Our Top 10

There are a lot of things that people are curious about when it comes to the beliefs of a church. These are the top 10 topics that make up the core of our beliefs. If you would like a full copy of our Statement of Faith, please contact our church office.

  • The Bible...

...is God’s special revelation of Himself. It is inspired by the Holy Spirit through human authors. It is infallible and inerrant in its original manuscripts. While certain portions of the Bible may be more applicable to various people at a given time, the whole of Scripture is equally the very Word of God. It is the final authority for faith and practice when interpreted correctly. (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:17-18; John 10:34-35; I Thessalonians 2:13)

  • there is only one true god...

...who eternally exists in a Trinity of persons the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are equal in deity, glory, essence, attributes and perfection but voluntarily assume different roles. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 14:26; John 15:26; John 16:13-15)

  • God the father...

is the first member of the Godhead, neither begotten nor proceeding. He is a personal being with intellect, will, and emotion. He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Father of all those who trust Christ as their Savior. (Psalm 90:2; Matthew 6:8, 32; 6:10; 12:50; 18:14;Romans 1:18; Ephesians 1:2-3; Galatians 4:6-7)

  • Jesus Christ...

is the second member of the Godhead - is God’s only begotten Son, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, sinless in His life, and by His death making atonement for the sin of the world. He shares all the attributes of the Father. We believe in His bodily resurrection and in His personal, visible, bodily return to the earth. (John 3:14-16; Matthew 1:18-25; Hebrews 7:26; II Corinthians 5:21; John 1:29; I John 2:2; John 10:30; Matthew 28:5-6; Acts 1:9; John 14:1-4)

  • The holy spirit...

the third member of the Godhead – shares the attributes that the Father and the Son possess. The work of the Spirit on behalf of the believer is to regenerate, baptize, seal, sanctify, fill, teach, guide, and comfort. In regard to a sinful world, He has come forth from God to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. (Acts 5:3-4; John 14:26; Ephesians 1:13-14; 5:28; I Corinthians 12:13; Titus 3:5; John 16:8-11)

  • Mankind...

was created by God in His image and though fallen is still in God’s image. The consequence of Adam’s sin – the representative head of all mankind – is that all people (Jesus Christ excepted) have a sin nature and are totally depraved. (Genesis 1:26-27; 9:6; James 3:9; Genesis 3:6-7; Romans 5:12, 18-19; Romans 3:9-18)

  • Salvation...

has been accomplished solely on the basis of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection. The new birth (justification) of the believer comes only by God’s grace through faith in Christ - totally apart from good works or commitment to future obedience. Repentance is a vital part of believing and is not a separate or independent act. Our salvation is secure and it is our privilege to be assured of our salvation based upon the trustworthiness of God’s Word. (Romans 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; John 3:16; 5:24; 20:31; John 10:27-28; I John 5:13)

  • The Church...

-the body and bride of Christ- consists of all those who believe in Christ. The church began at Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2 and will be removed from the earth at the rapture. We believe that the church and the physical nation of Israel are distinct. As members of the Body of Christ, we believe that we are also members of one another and are to love one another with a pure heart. We believe that the Spirit has equipped us with gifts for the work of ministry. We believe in the observance of two ordinances – baptism and the Lord’s Supper

    (I Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:30; I Corinthians 10:32; I Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:3; Matthew 28:19-20; I Corinthians 11:17-24)

  • Centerpoint Community Church...

is biblically instructed to be under the leadership of elders who are under the headship of Christ. One may become a member of Centerpoint Community Church by virtue of being a baptized believer in Jesus Christ, and by completing the Centerpoint 101 class. (Acts 20:28-31; Eph.1:22-23)

  • Jesus Christ Will Return!

Specifically, we believe in the personal, pretribulational, and premillennial return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead. All those who have trusted in Jesus Christ alone will be raised to everlasting blessedness and joy in the presence of the Lord. The unbeliever will be raised bodily for judgment to everlasting, conscious punishment. (Daniel 12:2-3; I Corinthians 15:50-54; I Thessalonians 4:13-17; Revelation 20)
